To Whom It May Concern:

Blessing: a word which describes the partnership between Table 9 and the Keon Center. For over a year now, these two establishments have been working hand in hand to help provide for one another. The truth is, the Keon Center has provided an eye opening experience to my restaurant, as well as my employees, and myself. Unfortunately in our society today, the developmentally disabled are not given a fair chance to succeed in life. Many people in the real world may view them as “different.” Their right, they are different. Different because they view life the way it is supposed to be lived. Different because the littlest things possible can put the biggest smile on their face. Different because they want to work and love every second of it. Different because these people can put a smile on anyone’s face.

Seeing Vladimir want to clean the windows and talk about how his weekend was while doing so, makes me WANT to be “different.” Seeing Diana want to wipe down the dessert menus at every table and have the biggest smile on her face while doing so, makes me WANT to be “different.” Seeing Janet grow from learning how to fill salt and peppers to folding banquet room napkins to bussing tables, to being hired part-time by us, and now working 125 guest parties, makes me WANT to be “different.” Seeing Dazel clean every inch of window and glass Table 9 has, to being hired part-time by us, to being able to have a full blown conversation with about the previous day in sports, makes me WANT to be “different.”

I have learned to strive to be “different” because I know if I can have the attitude and outlook on life that all of these wonderful people from the Keon Center have, I will never regret a thing. They all have so many hidden talents that deserve to be used and displayed and for everyone in society to see. I recommend partnering with the Keon Center because not only will they benefit your business, they will benefit you personally in a way that can only being described in one word: blessing.

Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern,

For the past season, we have been happy to serve as an internship for the Keon center, with good success for this program. The case managers who come with the interns are helpful in teaching the interns the skills they are learning as well as communicating our needs to the interns. As to be expected with this program, some of the interns do have challenges with certain tasks, which the case managers note so that we don't schedule those tasks for those individuals again. However, I have been quite impressed with the overall abilities to exceed my expectations of the vast majority of the individuals who have been brought to us. They truly inspire the saying "abilities beyond disabilities". It is with great pleasure that 1 see keeping this program going on a continued basis going forward into the future. Feel free to contact me with any questions at (914) 739-3900.

Sincerely,

Evan Liaskos

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS TIME TO THANK KEON FOR ALLOWING US TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM THE LAST TWO YEARS. IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE, AND QUITE SUCCESSFUL.

WORKING WITH THE INDIVIDUALS, CLEANING THE INSIDE OF OUR FLEET OF TAXIS WAS AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE. THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THEIR DUTIES AND FAR EXCEEDED WHAT I HAD EXPECTED OF THEM. ALTHOUGH, I EXPECTED INTERIOR CLEANING AND DETAILING ONLY, THEY WOULD TAKE IT UPON THEMSELVES TO CLEAN THE RIMS AND TIRES ON TAXIS AS WELL. THIS I MUST ADMIT , WAS QUITE ADMIRABLE.

IN SHORT, BASED ON OUR PAST AND CURRENT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE KEON CENTER AND THEIR TRAINEES, WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO NOT JUST NEXT YEAR, BUT PERHAPS MANY MORE! ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE FEEL FREEE TO CALL ME AT THE ABOVE MENTIONED NUMBER.

THANK YOU,

KEVIN J. TOOHEY

To Whom it May Concern:

For the Past few months now, we have been happy to serve as an internship location for the Keon Center. Both the Case Managers and the Interns are friendly and a blessing to have in the store. They always come into the store with smiles on their faces and happy to assist in whatever tasks the business can use to be done. We have not run into anything that was asked of them that they couldn't complete. I personally have been impressed multiple times in the work they have completed and many members of my staff also notice areas of the store that have been worked on by the Interns.

As any retail location can attest to, we have a very detail oriented system of cleaning and stocking. The Interns have championed every aspect of these without any difficulties. We talk to the Interns and Case Workers as they arrive and give them their tasks for the day and check up on them once in a while just like we do to our own associates. If there was ever a question needed to be clarified about a project the Case Workers have ensured we were asked quickly and communicated it to the team.

I personally think this is a wonderful program and I am glad to be a part of it and hope to see more organizations also join in this program. If you would like to speak to me personally feel free to contact me at (914)734-1709!

Dennis Keon

This Site is Dedicated
to the Memory of
Dennis Keon.

Dennis was one of our original consumers, and we had the pleasure of sharing his life for over 50 years.

Dennis' family were pioneers. They raised Dennis at home and he truly became an active part of the community. We are named after Dennis' father who was instrumental in giving us the brick & mortar of our first school.

While we have grown over the years from a school to an agency now serving disabled adults in a variety of programs, we have maintained the Keon name to honor the efforts put forth by Dennis' family in fostering the dream of community living and reaching goals that at the time seemed unreachable.

We are truly blessed for all that Dennis gave over the years. He will always be with us.

Go Yankees!
